About

Asbury Tattoo Fest is the current name of the long-running Jersey Shore convention that began in 2010 as the Visionary Tattoo Arts Festival at Asbury Park Convention Hall and ran 11 editions through 2021 before rebranding. It now takes place over a single weekend each summer at the oceanfront Ocean Place Resort & Spa in Long Branch, New Jersey, drawing artists from across the country.

For working artists, the appeal is a high-traffic shore-tourism weekend with live tattooing across all three days alongside tattoo contests and burlesque entertainment. The single-venue resort setting and beach-town crowd make it a practical mid-summer booth stop on the Northeast convention circuit.

For artists: booths, applications, hours

For the 2026 edition the smallest artist booth was an 8x10 for two artists at $900, with two tables, four chairs, a trash can, outlets and a sharps container included; an 8x20 for four artists was $1,800 and a corner added $50. Tattoo artists had to take a booth, not a vendor table. Resort parking and pool passes were included for artists all weekend; liability insurance could be bought through the organizer at $200 per artist.

The 2026 application was a two-page PDF per shop listing up to four artists, paid by check, money order or Zelle: 50% deposit with the form, balance due by June 30, 2026. The 2026 show ran Jul 31-Aug 2, 2026; 2027 dates have not been published.

Every 2026 artist needed a tattoo license, a current bloodborne pathogens certificate and liability insurance naming the venue owner and organizer as additionally insured; no apprentices could tattoo and only disposable equipment was allowed.

Hours for 2026: Friday 2pm-12am, Saturday 12pm-12am, Sunday 12pm-8pm. Visitors paid $25 for a day pass or $100 for a 3-day VIP pass. Tattoo contests ran Saturday and Sunday at 6PM, with Best of Show Sunday at 8PM. Venue was Ocean Place Resort & Spa, 1 Ocean Blvd, Long Branch, NJ; rooms were booked through a group link in the application.
