About

The Calgary Tattoo & Arts Festival is Western Canada's flagship tattoo convention, a three-day October show at the BMO Centre in Stampede Park. It was founded in 2004 by Steve Peace and is run by TLC Business Strategies Inc., trading as Alberta Tattoo Shows, the company that also stages the Edmonton, Vancouver and Calgary winter editions. The organizer advertises 650 or more artists for the coming edition, alongside seminars, contests and a full stage programme.

For a working artist this is the largest floor in Western Canada and the one that draws collectors from outside Alberta. Scale cuts both ways: the traffic is there, but so are hundreds of other booths, so a show this size rewards artists who arrive with pre-booked work rather than relying on walk-ups alone. Tickets run from $31.99 to $104.12 CAD on Showpass across day, weekend and VIP tiers.

What to expect

Best for

Artists who can fill a book in advance and want the largest floor and widest collector draw in Western Canada.

Notable: Running since 2004 and the flagship of the Alberta Tattoo Shows circuit, which also stages Edmonton, Vancouver and the Calgary winter edition.
