Launched in 2025 by Waldorf's Village Tattoo and Body Piercing, the Cruel Summer Tattoo Arts Festival has grown quickly into one of Southern Maryland's biggest ink weekends. The second annual edition packs more than 150 artists into the Jaycees Event Center, with a lineup that leans on national Ink Master talent alongside the region's busiest shops.
What sets the show apart is its entertainment-heavy programming. Alongside the daily Tattoo of the Day contests and evening award ceremonies, the festival runs sideshow acts, burlesque performances, and pin-up competitions, turning the convention floor into a full variety spectacle. Its late-summer slot in the Washington metro gives Mid-Atlantic artists a fresh, high-energy date to work.
