Event details

About

Held each winter at the Palmer Events Center in Austin, the Star of Texas Tattoo Art Revival is one of the longest-running and largest tattoo conventions in Texas, drawing more than 400 artists from across the country. Founded in 2003 by Marcy Molkenthen and now in its 23rd year, it operates more like a juried art show than an open-registration expo, with invitations sent to selected artists and an emphasis on fine art alongside live tattooing.

The event deliberately favors craft over spectacle, prioritizing specialists across Japanese, traditional, abstract, pointillism, photorealistic, and other styles. For artists, it matters as a curated, peer-respected showcase where the work itself is the focus, supported by daily tattoo contests, gallery exhibitions, and a weekend of side-show and burlesque entertainment.

What to expect
