About
Organized by Chris Allen Taylor of Ink Therapy along with Trina Sanders Sowers, the Indy Tattoo Expo runs each June at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds & Conference Complex in Danville, just west of Indianapolis. The 2026 edition is June 5-7. Across three days it hosts more than 100 artists from around the country alongside vendors, live entertainment, and contests, with both appointment and walk-up tattooing available.
For a working artist, the Indianapolis metro is a sizable Midwest market without an overcrowded convention calendar, and a fairgrounds venue keeps booth costs and overhead reasonable. The mix of appointment slots and walk-ups means artists can pre-book regulars while still capturing impulse business from the local crowd.
What to expect
- 100+ artists from across the country
- Three days at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds
- Both appointment and walk-up tattooing welcomed
- Vendors and live entertainment throughout the weekend
- Serves the broad Indianapolis metro market
- Tiered, accessible ticket pricing with kids' rates
Best for
Artists targeting the Indianapolis metro and broader Midwest
For artists: booths, applications, hours
Neither booth cost nor what a booth includes is published. The 2026 floor plan lists regular booths at 10 by 12 ft and large booths at 20 by 12 ft, at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds, 1900 E. Main Street, Danville, IN 46122.
Entry is invite based: every artist emails a portfolio to the organizer and waits for an invite, which carries the price. No application deadline or sold-out notice is published for the 2027 edition, dated June 11-13, 2027. Beyond the portfolio the organizer lists no license, insurance or health certificate requirement. The Hendricks County Health Department separately requires a temporary tattoo permit per booth and per event, plus the artist's latest spore test result before the booth opens; that form is dated 2020, unconfirmed with the county.
In 2026 the show ran Friday noon to 11 PM, Saturday 11 AM to 11 PM, Sunday 11 AM to 8 PM, plus an artists only day on June 4, 2026 with seminars included for booth holders. Contest entry cost $10 per category in 2026, non-refundable, closing 30 minutes before each contest. Visitor tickets on the organizer's 2026 page were $30 a day, $75 for the weekend. Fairgrounds parking is at no charge, and two host hotels in Avon sit under 10 minutes out; the 2026 block discount closed May 6.
Notable: It is run by working shop owners (Ink Therapy's Chris Allen Taylor and Trina Sanders Sowers) rather than a national promoter chain.
