About
Run by the team behind the True North Art and Tattoo studio, this expo is a homegrown event built for Southeast Alaska. Now in its third year after a 2024 debut, it takes over the Centennial Hall Convention Center in downtown Juneau for a late-May weekend of live tattooing, art, and contests.
Juneau is one of the most remote state capitals in the country, and a working convention here is a genuine rarity. The local studio behind it leans on more than 15 years of combined industry experience to bring a real show to a region most touring artists never see, giving Southeast Alaska a date of its own on the calendar.
What to expect
- Third annual edition in Alaska's capital
- Organized by a local True North Art and Tattoo studio
- Live tattooing and a tattoo contest across the weekend
- Held at downtown Juneau's Centennial Hall Convention Center
- A rare working convention for remote Southeast Alaska
- Late-May date that fits the regional travel season
Best for
Artists drawn to a remote, off-the-beaten-path Southeast Alaska show
For artists: booths, applications, hours
The 3rd Annual True North Art and Tattoo Expo ran May 22-24, 2026 at Centennial Hall Convention Center, 101 Egan Dr, Juneau, Alaska. No 2027 dates are published, and the 2026 ticket listing is closed.
A 10x10 booth was $600 in 2026 and included 2 artist weekend passes; a 10x20 was $1100 and included 4 passes. The 10x10 was $550 at the 2024 edition. The booth page carries those four lines and nothing more, with no published detail on tables, chairs, electricity or lighting. The site has no application form and no portfolio upload; the only channel is the organizer's email address in the footer.
The organizer's one stated requirement is the Alaska courtesy license, form 08-4404 revised 02/19/2025: an $80 application fee plus an $80 license fee, $160 in 2025, putting a solo artist in a 10x10 at $760 before travel. It must reach the state board 90 days before work starts in Alaska, emailed applications are refused, and it takes notarized pages, a sponsor already licensed in Alaska in the same field, current CPR and bloodborne pathogens cards, and proof of paid practice in 12 of the prior 24 months. The license runs 30 consecutive days under the 2025 form, capped at two per person per calendar year, and Alaska Statute 08.13.217(a) bars tattooing minors.
Notable: One of the only tattoo conventions held in Southeast Alaska, run by a homegrown local studio.
